Punch, boom and a bit of romance!

PROS: Impressive build quality and overall design language of package as well as the IEM, good choice of accessories, extremely comfortable and snug fitting semi-custom shells, warm and musical sound signature, DD with significant bass boost for bass lovers, fuller sounding lower-midrange, smooth treble presentation, good clarity, resolution and detail retrieval for a warm coloured signature, especially in Pop mode.

CONS: Not all sound modes will appeal to everyone, not the best technical performance in the price segment, laid back upper-treble, bass boost and fuller bodied presentation might not appeal to reference-neutral heads.

This has to be one of the best packaged IEMs in its price range. Everything from the box, the unboxing experience, the way everything is put together, accessories, etc. make the D2X seem more expensive than it actually is. Kudos to Panther Audio for having good taste and not cutting corners any where.

Build quality.

D2X has excellent semi-custom shells made out of medical grade resin. They are crafted and finished perfectly, extremely well done for this price segment and I’m mighty impressed to be honest! The stock design I received have black shells with golden brown chips. The left faceplate has the brand name ‘Panther’ whereas the right one spots the brand logo. It has a dual bore nozzle and a lip to hold the ear tips. The top of the shell sports the dual switch as well as the vent for the dynamic driver. 

Cable – D2X comes with a nice 8 core High-purity Single Crystal Copper Silver Plated cable with 2-pin connectors and 3.5mm jack. It’s not the supplest or softest cable but wraps quite easily, doesn’t entangle and isn’t microphonic. It’s a pretty decent stock cable for this price.

Fit, Comfort and Isolation.

D2X shells are quite small and have extremely well done semi-custom contours which help with an extremely comfortable and snug fit. I can use the shells for hours and hours together and even lie down sideways without any discomfort. Noise isolation is fairly good even though it has a vent for the dynamic driver and can surely be used as an EDC IEM or when travelling.
